How We Work Together
The Process
In about 90 days, with the ExitMap Express process, we'll help you understand your Financial, Business, and Personal Readiness for potential transitions. We'll deliver a final report that will document your Goals, Personal Vision, and the Action items for moving forward with your transition plan.
During this phase, we provide you with a Business Valuation Estimate from Value Builder. Your valuation is based on comparisons to others in your industry. Value Builder has done over 80,000 such valuations. Additional business coaching to overcome identified “value gaps” is offered in customized formats.
90 Days to an Action Plan
ExitMap Express 5-Meeting Structured Discovery
This is the 5-meeting format
Meeting #1 — Stakeholders
We will discuss the business, your initial preferred strategy, and its potential impact on family, employees, partners and customers.
Meeting #2 — Financial Readiness
In three exercises we will model your discretionary cash flow, determine how a lender would look at financing, and calculate the amount you need from the sale in order to achieve your goals.
Meeting #3 — Business Readiness
Any business increases in value if it's run by a competent management team. We will discuss the company's dependence on you, and the recruiting or training needs for you to step back from daily operations.
Meeting #4 — Personal Readiness
Using three cooperative exercises, we will determine your activity, income requirements, identify and purpose in your "life after business."
Meeting #5 — Prioritized Action Items
After choosing your most important objectives for implementation, we will work with you to develop the targets, time frames, and accountable parties needed to move forward.
Your ExitMap
The final report will document your Goals, Personal Vision, and the Action Items for moving forward with your transition plan.
Getting Started
How do I get started?
Set aside 15 minutes to take the first step by completing an ExitMap Assessment.
The Assessment is a multiple-choice questionnaire which does not ask for confidential or financial information. We respect your privacy and will not share your information.
What if you don't have a date in mind?
Our Assessment asks for two date ranges. The first is approximately when you want to step back from your day-to-day responsibilities. The second is when you want to walk away completely.
Once you know when you want to step back, the day you actually leave the business becomes much more flexible.
What will I get when I take the Assessment?
The Assessment looks beyond your retirement goals. Helping you reach your objectives requires a knowledge of your business and the state of your company.
- 1.
A 12-page summary of your responses will be emailed to you within one business day. It is organized into four key areas of readiness: planning, finance, revenue/profit, and operations.
- 2.
A 40-page detailed analysis of your responses will be provided as part of your complimentary debriefing by Tom Krekel.
Stage 2: Valuation
What's my company worth?
We use Value Builder's assessment to obtain a valuation range. We score the business on its financial record and the eight key drivers of value. Your valuation can be based on the most relevant standard for your industry: Seller's Discretionary Earnings, Adjusted EBITDA, or Revenue. The report can project the impact of improvements to the eight drivers on the valuation estimate.
Importantly, Value Builder's valuation is based on comparisons to others in your industry.
"Invest the 15 minutes to take the ExitMap assessment. It's a risk-free, easy way to begin to frame your thinking on the next stage of your life."
I would be honored to hear from you, and to help in any way I can. Tom Krekel
